Payroll Outsourcing Companies in Chile: The Leading Ones and How to Choose

When searching for payroll outsourcing companies in Chile, it’s not just about comparing rates. The company that processes your payroll calculates pay stubs, reports and pays contributions to Previred, submits the Electronic Payroll Ledger to the Labor Directorate, and keeps track of vacation time, leave, and severance pay. An error in any of these steps affects the employee’s paycheck and, sooner or later, leads to an audit. That’s why we’ve put together this comparative list: seven providers with verified operations in Chile, what each one offers according to its own website, and what type of company each is best suited for.

If you're looking for a general overview of the service, its benefits, and costs, you'll find it in our guide to payroll outsourcing in Chile. This article goes a step further: it helps you compare specific providers.

Transparency: This guide is published by Wiseplan; we have included ourselves using the same criteria. Companies are listed in alphabetical order, not by score, and the information for each one comes from its official website (links in the References section). Last updated: October 2026.

Methodology: How We Select and Compare Suppliers

To be included on the list, each company had to meet two conditions: offer a third-party payroll service on its Chilean website—meaning that its team processes your company’s payroll—and have verifiable operations in Chile. We excluded providers whose offerings we could not confirm through our own sources. We then evaluated five criteria:

  • Specialization: Whether payroll services are your core offering or one component of a broader range of services in auditing, accounting, tax, or human resources.
  • Coverage in Chile: Where they operate and what coverage they claim to provide.
  • Services included: payroll processing, private payroll list, payroll ledger, centralized accounting, document management, attendance tracking, and labor consulting.
  • Technology: employee portal, online access, digital document signing, and information security.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Legal support for labor matters, updates in response to changes in the law, and confidential data handling.

We do not publish third-party rates. They vary depending on the number of employees, the number of variable components, and additional services, and none of the providers we reviewed publish them on their websites.

The 7 Payroll Outsourcing Companies in Chile

Here is a summary of each provider. At the end, you'll find a comparison chart and a checklist to help you decide.

1. Adecco Chile

Adecco is one of the world's leading human resources firms. In Chile, it offers payroll outsourcing services that, according to its website, include payroll calculation, personnel management, an employee portal and app, and customized reports. It also provides digital signing of contracts, addenda, and pay stubs with configurable workflows; attendance tracking with shift management and geolocation; and legal advice on payroll matters. It reports having more than 13 branches nationwide.

Suitable for: medium and large companies with employees spread across multiple regions that are looking for a global brand provider with its own employee platform.

2. BDO Chile

BDO is an international auditing and consulting network. In Chile, its Business Services & Outsourcing (BSO) division has a unit dedicated to payroll that processes its clients’ private-sector and general payrolls on a monthly basis. According to its website, it prepares payroll statements, the payroll ledger, the withholding tax ledger, and consolidated accounting reports, under the supervision of its Human Resources, Tax, and Legal departments. The same division offers accounting, tax compliance, and labor law advisory services. Its office is located in Las Condes.

Suitable for: companies—often subsidiaries of foreign groups—that want to centralize payroll, accounting, and tax matters within a single firm.

3. EY Chile

On its Chilean website, EY presents managed payroll processing services: its team handles the client’s payroll from data collection to regulatory reporting and communication with employees. The website focuses on global payroll operations for companies ranging from startups to multinationals.

Suitable for: multinational companies looking for a single payroll provider for multiple countries, including Chile.

4. KPMG Chile

KPMG includes payroll services as part of its Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) practice. Its Chilean website lists payroll services for private-sector and general-sector employees, as well as payroll processing and related obligations, along with accounting outsourcing, tax compliance, and inventory management.

Suitable for: large companies or subsidiaries that already work with an audit and consulting firm and want to incorporate payroll into a broader BPO framework.

5. PwC Chile

PwC has a payroll services division within its Legal and Tax Advisory practice. In its publications, this team focuses on social security and labor compliance—including pension reform, the Electronic Labor Registry, and the Labor Directorate’s electronic audits—using an approach that combines processing, diagnostics, and automation.

Ideal for: companies that value having the tax and legal support of a large firm in addition to payroll services.

6. RSM Chile

RSM is an international auditing and consulting network. In Chile, it combines its accounting, payroll, and back-office services under one umbrella, and its website mentions payroll calculations, severance pay, and labor laws. It offers the option to outsource the entire process or to contract monthly and annual reviews.

Suitable for: small and medium-sized businesses that want to handle their accounting and payroll through the same provider, or that simply need an external review of their internal processes.

7. Wiseplan

Wiseplan is a human resources consulting firm with more than 12 years of experience, offices in Las Condes, and operations in Peru as well. Its payroll outsourcing service covers payroll calculation and payment with reporting, document management (contracts, addenda, severance payments, vacation time, leaves of absence, and absences), online access via an extranet, a self-service portal for employees, and statistical reports for HR management. It also offers a private payroll administration service for executives and senior management, as well as biometric attendance tracking that complies with Labor Department regulations.

The difference is that the same consulting firm provides payroll outsourcing, labor consulting and legal representation, talent acquisition, and HR consulting, so any legal questions regarding a severance payment or settlement are handled by the same team.

Suitable for: medium-sized companies that want personalized service, with legal support regarding labor matters and confidentiality for their private operations.

Payroll software: Buk, Nubox, and Talana are not outsourcing services

When searching for providers, platforms such as Buk, Nubox, or Talana often come up. These are software solutions: your team—or your accountant—operates the system and remains responsible for the process. With outsourcing, on the other hand, an external team calculates, reviews, and delivers the payroll. Many outsourcing companies use one of these systems, so they are not mutually exclusive.

  • Buk: It is marketed as HR and financial management software, with modules for compensation, attendance, benefits, digital signatures, and organizational development. It operates in Chile and other countries in the region.
  • Nubox: cloud-based accounting, payroll, and invoicing software designed for accountants and small and medium-sized businesses. Its payroll module manages salaries, vacation time, and contracts, and generates the files required for Previred and the Electronic Payroll Ledger.
  • Talana: An HR platform developed in Chile, designed for medium and large companies, offering payroll processing, bulk data upload, and variable payments. It operates in Chile and Peru.

What obligations must your supplier fulfill?

Outsourcing does not transfer legal liability: as far as the authorities are concerned, your company remains the employer. That is why the service provider must fulfill, at a minimum, the following obligations:

  • Electronic Payroll Record (LRE): a platform operated by the Labor Directorate where employers report payroll payments monthly in a standardized format, within 15 business days of the month following the payment, according to ChileAtiende.
  • Reporting and Payment of Social Security Contributions: Previred allows you to file reports and pay social security contributions online. An error in this step can result in social security debts and claims from employees.
  • Employment documents— such as contracts, addenda, severance agreements, and vacation records—must be up to date and properly documented, because they are the first things an inspector checks.
  • Changes in the law— including adjustments, pension reforms, and new registration requirements—must be reflected in the calculation starting in the month they take effect.

How to Choose: A Checklist Before Signing

With your shortlist in hand, use these questions to compare proposals with the same scope:

  • Who does the calculations and who reviews them? Ask them to explain the quality control process before issuing the final statements.
  • Does it include a private role with restricted access for executives?
  • Does it manage the LRE, Previred, and centralized accounting, or does it just provide the calculations?
  • Is there a portal for contributors and a digital document signing feature?
  • What about attendance tracking and overtime? Does it comply with Labor Department regulations?
  • Do you have your own legal support regarding labor matters, such as questions, severance pay, and audits?
  • Who bears the cost of a recalculation or a fine when the error is the provider's fault? Let's put that in writing.
  • What is the migration process like? Request a plan that reconciles vacation balances and outstanding severance payments.
  • How do you protect personal data, and who has access to the information?

Comparison Table

Company Spotlight Payroll Services Who It's For
Adecco Chile Global HR firm Payroll processing, web portal and app, digital signature, attendance tracking, legal consulting Medium- and large-sized companies with staff in the regions
BDO Chile Auditing and Consulting (BSO) Private and general roles, payroll ledger, fees, centralization Subsidiaries that centralize accounting and taxes
EY Chile Auditing and Consulting Payroll as a Managed Service, Multi-Country Approach Multinational companies with employees in multiple countries
KPMG Chile Auditing and Consulting (BPO) Private and General Roles, Payroll Processing, and Obligations Large companies with a comprehensive BPO model
PwC Chile Legal and Tax Consulting Payroll services focused on social security and labor compliance Companies that prioritize tax and legal support
RSM Chile Auditing and Consulting Compensation, severance pay, and labor laws; outsourcing or review Small and medium-sized businesses that combine accounting and payroll
Wiseplan HR Consultant Payroll processing and payment, private payroll, extranet, portal, biometric attendance tracking, document management Medium-sized firms seeking close relationships and legal support in labor matters

Common Mistakes When Outsourcing Payroll Processing

  • Migrating without reconciling: Transferring payroll data without reviewing vacation balances, loans, and deductions carries over old errors to the new provider.
  • Choosing based solely on price: The rate per worker matters, but an error in social security contributions or the LRE can cost more than the monthly difference.
  • Don't confuse the terms: Outsourcing payroll processing for your own employees is different from outsourcing or temporary staffing, where the staff is employed by another company. We explain this in the sections on outsourcing and temporary staffing.
  • Failure to designate an internal point person: The vendor performs the calculations, but someone from your company must approve the monthly updates and the payroll.

Conclusion

There is no single “best” provider. Audit firms are a good fit when you want to consolidate payroll, accounting, and tax services; global HR firms, when your workforce is large and spread out; and a specialized consulting firm, when you’re looking for close collaboration and day-to-day legal support regarding labor matters. The key is to compare proposals with the same scope of work and to specify in writing who is responsible for each error.

Frequently asked questions

What should a payroll outsourcing service in Chile include?

At a minimum, this includes the monthly calculation of payroll, the filing and payment of contributions to Previred, the Electronic Payroll Register with the Labor Directorate, and the management of vacations, leaves of absence, and severance pay. Many providers also offer centralized accounting, an employee portal, digital signatures, and labor consulting. Make sure the scope is specified in writing in the proposal.

How much does it cost to outsource payroll?

There is no standard rate, and none of the providers reviewed publish one. The price depends on the number of employees, the number of variable components, the private sector status, and additional services. Compare proposals with the same scope to ensure that the price difference is meaningful.

Is software like Buk, Nubox, or Talana the same as outsourcing?

No. Payroll software is operated by your team or your accountant, who remains in charge of the process. With outsourcing, an external team calculates, reviews, and delivers the payroll. Many outsourcing providers use software, so both models can coexist.

Who is responsible to the Labor Department if there is an error in payroll?

When dealing with the authorities, the obligation falls on the employer. That is why it is advisable for the contract with the vendor to specify who is responsible for recalculations or fines when the error is the vendor’s, and for the vendor to provide you with documentation and guidance in the event of an audit.
